Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to work a day shift pattern (8am-4pm) on a permanent contract based in the Teesside area.

THE ROLE
This is very much a hands-on role, being responsible for Mechanical maintenance activities across the heavy plant setting, you will utilise modern technology to ensure that the productive capability of the plant is optimised and improved for the ever changing needs of the business.
To liaise with production and engineering departments on any proposed developments/modifications to improve plant availability, product quality and performance.
To monitor and review plant performance and make recommendations in order to optimise production throughput, quality and engineering effectiveness.
To obtain and evaluate competitive quotations from competent suppliers and or contractors to ensure technical integrity, specification compliance and delivery on time.
To supervise contractors carrying out site work, ensuring compliance to site and Construction, Design and Management Regulations (CDM Regs).
The supervision of personnel to carry out engineering work to ensure maximum availability of production equipment.
The continual review of engineering practices to ensure the engineering department and contractors are operating in accordance with the health, safety and environmental issues.
To monitor and control expenditure on materials, labour and spares to keep within agreed budgets
Tooling preparation and development.
THE PERSON
Either qualified to degree level or equivalent in a mechanical discipline or a time served craftsperson holding qualifications to HND/HNC level with appropriate technical and leadership experience, you will have significant, demonstrable experience in a similar mechanical engineering role.
We’re looking for someone with excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. Combining your technical and engineering knowledge, you'll know how to collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will also be someone who works well in a fast, high paced, customer focused environment.
Experienced maintaining plant-based equipment such as automated systems, burning machines, roller tables, conveyors, presses and welding machinery
Understanding of design work and ability to read drawings
