Our client is a small, family owned, high successful business, that provides a range of high-quality water management systems to the construction sector. Based in Chester-Le-Street, they are very much a values led business and the management team have developed an inclusive and supportive culture, where everyone is equal and accountable. Currently experiencing a period of growth, they are looking to add to their sales team and are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in construction, specifically drainage or civil engineering.


You will have a passion and enthusiasm for sales in order to make a substantial contribution to the growth and success of the company through the identification, development and conversion of new, profitable business relationships. This will be supported by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and establishing new business relationships via telephone, email and direct mail. Further to this, you will be comfortable with undertaking new business pitches and online sales presentations to potential clients and will work towards building up a database of suitable leads and potential new business contacts. The role will also involve qualifying inbound enquiries, booking meetings with prospective clients and developing proposal and contract documentation as required. This a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to develop your skillset and forge a long-term career with this business. Your duties will include:

  • Generating and following up on B2B leads
  • Making outbound calls to prospective clients
  • Booking appointments with prospective clients
  • Attending appointments alongside the Director
  • Logging information onto the company system
  • Administering the after-sales process


You will be an accomplished Business Development Manager and will endeavour to succeed within a forward-thinking organisation. Therefore, you must be able to use your initiative and be comfortable with challenging the norm in order to suggest new ideas. In addition, you will have:

  • A sound understanding of the construction industry, ideally drainage and excellent commercial awareness
  • A track record of working within a sales environment
  • strong experience of closing business
  • A proactive, target driven approach
  • A willingness to consider new sales techniques
  • Confidence within a sales and account management environment
