THE BUSINESS

Westray Recruitment Group are seeking a Manual Miller to join our client based in Cramlington. The right candidate will be joining a global company with a proud history. They have a well established reputation and experts in their industry. An opportunity has arisen for a Manual Miller to join their team.

THE ROLE

  • Machining components in accordance to the route card and technical drawings
  • Assisting in the fitting of components
  • Identifying the operations which need completing from the drawings issued
  • Operating/setting manual milling machines in accordance to customer specifications and company standards
  • Identifying the required speeds and feeds as per each component requirement
  • Operating conventional Milling Machines to produce high precision parts, to exact standards
  • Correctly positioning the component into the conventional machine, with the assistance of lifting equipment if necessary
  • To be responsible for your own quality; measuring first-offs before proceeding with any additional machining with hand measuring equipment such as verniers and micrometers
  • Establish tools required for each task and escalate any issues to the Production Supervisor
  • To follow instructions as per company procedure, practises and policies
  • To ensure all work or tasks meet the requirements of ISO 9001
  • To ensure all work/tasks/procedures/documentation meet the requirements of the company’s Quality Systems & procedures
  • To ensure all work meets the requirements of Health & Safety systems & procedures

THE PERSON

  • Previous work experience is essential for this role, minimum of 2 years is expected
  • Ideally with a relevant apprenticeship (or equivalent) or other qualification in engineering/ machining
  • You must be able to read, interpret and communicate technical engineering drawings
  • Manual handling and Overhead Crane Training/Experience is essential
  • Good team working and communication skills are required
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work is also required
  • Must have proven team-working skills
  • Planning and organisational skills are also required to ensure departmental and business objectives and deadlines are met whilst ensuring the integrity of the Company
  • Good written and verbal skills are required to convey issues to your management and employees alike
  • PC literate: Some knowledge of spread sheets and reporting computer systems is advantageous
