The company

Our client, a leading engineering firm with over 110 employees, is well-known for delivering high-quality, custom-manufactured components across various sectors, including Sub-sea, Oil & Gas Exploration, Rail, Marine, Fastenings, Furniture, Defence, and Aerospace. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Material's Controller to join their team on a permanent basis.

The role

As a Material's Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing all material movements, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials to the production floor.
  • Managing the cutting and processing of materials using automatic saws and guillotine to meet quality and timeline requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate material inventory records, conducting regular audits to ensure stock accuracy and availability.
  • Collaborating with the Stores and Dispatch Manager to ensure seamless integration of material management with overall warehouse operations.
  • Ensuring all material handling processes comply with industry standards and company policies, including health and safety regulations.
  • Working closely with production, quality assurance, and procurement teams to ensure materials are available as needed and meet all specifications.

Additional Responsibilities (If Experienced):

  • Ensuring all materials have the necessary certification and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a comprehensive material stock system within the ERP.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce material waste.

You

You’ll have proven experience in material management, preferably in the engineering or manufacturing sector. A strong understanding of material certification processes and documentation requirements is essential. Proficiency in using ERP systems, attention to detail, and strong communication skills will also be crucial. Additionally, you’ll have knowledge of health and safety regulations related to material handling and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

In return

You’ll receive £12.00 - £14.50 per hour, depending on experience, with 39 hours worked over 4 days, plus overtime paid at 1½ times the regular rate. This role offers the chance to work with a diverse range of clients and industries within a reputable company. The benefits package includes a pension scheme and a biannual bonus scheme subject to business performance.
