Mechanical Maintenance Technician

THE BUSINESS

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Technician to work on a permanent basis for our client based in County Durham. The organisation is passionate about improvements and you will be joining a growing business who are focused on raising standards across all production areas. You will be delivering planned and reactive maintenance within a fast paced, modern production facility. The organisation has a current turnover of £20M and they are looking to increasing to increase this to £23M.

THE ROLE

• Working to deliver planned and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced environment
• Fault-find on machinery which will include pneumatically controlled filling machines, conveyors, heated water baths, capping machines, stretch and heat shrink wrappers, diaphragm pumps, valves, mixing and blending equipment, motors and liquid transfer lines.
• Conduct changeovers of hazardous/flammable gases and liquids.
• Attending all breakdowns and fixing machines
• Improve machine performance by permanent fixes
• Set up pneumatic switches, relays and valves to optimise equipment.
• Adjust pneumatic aerosol filling equipment crimp widths and diameters to ensure that a high-quality product is manufactured.
• Set up using digital controls.
• Carry out plumbing work to process pipework using compression fittings.
• Conduct routine maintenance as required by the Preventive Maintenance schedule. This will include oil fills, filter changes, seal replacement.
• Ensure that repairs are completed to a high standard.

THE PERSON

• Able to work a 2-shift system
• Mechanically biased with basic Electrical skill set .
• Ability to work safely and in a controlled manner.
• Good team worker.
• Ability to deliver results without constant supervision.
• Able to help set and maintain production machinery
• Experience of operating in a fast-moving manufacturing environment

THE PACKAGE

• This position rotates week to week days and backs. Day shift is 7am-3pm Monday to Friday and Back shift is 3pm-11pm Monday to Friday with a 9pm finish on the Friday working back shift
• The salary for this role is circa £40K per annum
