We are seeking to recruit an experienced Technical Account Manager to work within their busy plant setting within Scunthorpe
The crux of the role is working to solidify existing and lapsed client relationships. This is an internal sales role aimed at developing accounts, bringing on new requirements and liaising with technical teams to highlight work scope delivery.
The organisation takes pride in their strong customer relationships and their commitment to delivering exceptional service and support. As a Technical Account Manager, you will serve as the primary technical liaison for a designated region, providing expert guidance on product performance, technical solutions, and new product development.
This position is uniquely positioned at the intersection of multiple functions—working closely with customers, commercial sales teams, mill operations, and the wider technical community including R&D.
THE ROLE
Managing technical enquiries related to existing and new products.
Translating customer requirements into actionable insights for internal teams.
Supporting product evolution, addressing complaints, and driving corrective and preventative actions in collaboration with Operations.
Contributing to quality management and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
You’ll regularly engage with clients, prepare technical documentation, and provide updates on product and process developments.
The role involves both national and international travel, so a full driving license is essential.
THE PERSON
Degree (or equivalent experience) in a Science or Materials-related discipline.
Experience in a customer-facing role within a technical or materials environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport across all levels.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
A proactive approach to process improvement and change management.
Must be available for international travel
Desirable Skills:
Background in the Wire Rod or Steel industry, particularly in customer-facing roles.
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
Knowledge of metallurgical testing standards and techniques.
Understanding of IATF 16949 and core tools such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and SPC.
