We are seeking an experienced and skilled Welding Engineer to oversee and optimise welding processes for line pipe manufacturing projects. This role is critical in ensuring weld quality, performance efficiency, and timely delivery aligned with business KPIs.
The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in welding processes including mechanised SAW, MAG/GMAW, and MMA/SMAW, ideally within a high-volume heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
THE ROLE
Continuously monitor, develop and improve welding procedures to ensure quality, integrity, and compliance with standards
Conduct R&D activities to enhance weld properties and expand SAW mill capabilities
Identify and implement new welding technologies, materials, and techniques
Provide technical welding support across projects
Ensure welding operations meet takt time and KPI targets
Monitor, analyse, and improve welding productivity and efficiency
Support on-time, in-full project delivery
Manage welding procedures and welder qualification portfolios
Ability to Inspect welds, ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards
Authorise and manage welding-related documentation and procedures
Work closely with engineering, production, QA/QC teams, suppliers, and clients
Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to production teams
Support training and development of the welding team
Manage consumables procurement and supplier relationships
Prepare and present technical reports and performance data
